I am the creator of this blog. From an early age, I was a math geek. I traded baseball cards as a kid and was enthralled how the bid-ask spreads worked in my Beckett Baseball Card Monthly Magazine. I attended many card shows in middle school and learned a lot about business and markets for goods. I even had my own booth at a show.
I invested a lot of time…probably too much at that point, following baseball statistics. I tried to identify price-chart patterns and analyze statistics to find undervalued players who may be ready for a break-out. I would then purchase their rookie cards and if they broke out, I would sell them to dealers for a profit. Looking back, I can’t believe how similar that was to my career as a financial advisor.
After graduating from college with a B.S. from the Frank Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University, I took a job as a financial advisor trainee at Morgan Stanley in Baltimore, MD. I spent nine years there learning the business and developing a client base. After the Great Financial Crisis (GFC), I decided I wanted to work for myself, not Wall Street. I left and started my own wealth management firm.
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. I have contributed to a wide array of financial articles at publications such as The Wall Street Journal, the Baltimore Business Journal, U.S. News & World Report, Fiduciary News, The Street, Magnify Money, Student Loan Hero, Insurancenews.net, and others.
I am a husband and father of two girls. I am learning on the fly how to successfully parent my girls and I am outnumbered every day of the week!
